Today, the world faces compounding crises — war, economic instability, climate disasters and widespread social unrest. A quick glance at social media reveals a global wave of demotivation and dissatisfaction.

In Nepal, we are witnessing a powerful shift. Driven by a vibrant youth movement, a new majority government has emerged, with youth making up 40% of our parliament. While many of these leaders are new to politics — meaning we are watching and supporting them as they learn — our expectations and hopes remain incredibly high.

This current reality proves that we must come together with renewed energy and unwavering hope to build a better world. I truly believe the Summit provides us with that critical space: to think, connect, network and spark dialogues as we work for a more just society. It serves as an alternative beacon for grassroots initiatives and people-to-people resource sharing.

Furthermore, this is a vital space for cross-cultural learning. The ideas and initiatives exchanged here can be adapted to unique local contexts, allowing us to contribute meaningfully to global peace.

To all of those travelling to Kathmandu in December: I extend a very warm welcome to Nepal! I am confident that you will leave with deep insights and inspiration from our journey.
